Pune Transport Division To Run 598 Extra Buses For Diwali Festival

Special buses from Pimpri-Chinchwad, Shivajinagar, and Swargate Depots to help commuters reach their hometowns amid full train bookings

Pune, 8th October 2025: As Diwali approaches, Pune locals returning home for the festivities will benefit from additional travel support provided by the Pune division of the State Transport Authority. To meet the heightened demand, 598 extra buses will operate from October 15 to November 5.

For the first time, special buses will depart from the Pimpri-Chinchwad depot, along with select services from Shivajinagar and Swargate. This arrangement aims to help Pune residents involved in work, education, or business return to their hometowns for the celebrations.

The additional buses are allocated as follows: 396 from Pimpri-Chinchwad, 80 from Shivajinagar, and 122 from Swargate. With train reservations already at capacity, numerous travellers have no choice but to rely on State Transport buses to get to their destinations.

Reservations for these extra buses are now open online. Travelers can secure their tickets via the transport authority's official website or mobile application.
