Pune, 12th August 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged youth to remember their constitutional duties and responsibilities along with their rights while carrying the national flag. He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of a Tiranga Yatra organised in Pune under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The yatra was organised by the Tiranga Gaurav Samiti Pune and concluded at the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk in Deccan. BJP state president Ravindra Chavan, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure and BJP city president Dheeraj Ghate were among those present.
Fadnavis said the Tricolour represents the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and soldiers who gave their lives for the country. He urged citizens, particularly the youth, to remember their contribution and understand the responsibility that comes with holding the national flag.
He said the sight of thousands of young people carrying the Tricolour on roads that normally see groups of youngsters gathering was a powerful expression of national pride.
Fadnavis said Pune has a strong legacy associated with figures such as Rajmata Jijau, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Lokmanya Tilak and Krantiguru Lahuji Vastad Salve. He said the energy and ideas of Pune’s youth should be used to build a developed Maharashtra and a stronger India.
He called for creating a Maharashtra that gives young people the support and opportunities to pursue their dreams while promoting equality, progress and development.
Fadnavis also said India has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy and is becoming increasingly self-reliant in defence and weapons manufacturing.
He described Pune as Maharashtra’s innovation hub and an important strength for India, adding that the city’s young population can contribute significantly to the country’s future growth.
The Chief Minister called upon the youth to contribute to nation-building not only by demanding their rights but also by fulfilling the duties and responsibilities entrusted to them by the Constitution.
