Pune, 14th July 2026: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized suspected adulterated food stock worth ₹37.61 lakh during a special enforcement drive across Pune Division. The operation, conducted between July 8 and 12, covered Pune, Solapur, Sangli, Kolhapur and Satara districts.
The drive was carried out under the guidance of Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. During inspections, officials seized 92,541 kg/litres of food products over suspected adulteration and labelling violations. Samples of milk, paneer, lassi, biscuits and other food items have been sent for laboratory testing.
In Pune district, officials destroyed nearly 53,000 litres of milk collected from tankers linked to Ajinkyarana Milk Industries and Priyadarshini Milk Collection Centre after suspecting adulteration.
At Yashoda Milk and Milk Products in Junnar, 1,806 litres of milk were seized, and the dairy was directed to suspend operations until further orders.
In Solapur district, the FDA found an Ajinkyarana Milk Industries chilling centre operating without the required licence and violating food safety norms. Officials destroyed 37,532 litres of milk at the facility.
The FDA also seized stocks of paneer and lassi from Malti Agencies in Sangli, while samples of different varieties of cookies were collected from Balaji Bakers in Kolhapur for laboratory analysis.
In Satara's Phaltan, officials uncovered an alleged milk adulteration racket in which milk powder was reportedly being used inside a cattle shed. A case has been registered against five persons at Phaltan Police Station.
The FDA said strict action will continue against businesses operating without licences or violating food safety regulations. Consumers who suspect food adulteration or poor-quality food have been urged to report complaints through the FDA's toll-free helpline 1800-222-365, Joint Commissioner Digambar Bhogawade said.
