According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishikesh Rawale, police received information that the building was being misused for illegal operations. Following a swift probe, officials discovered that the construction had no official permission and had even encroached upon the road.

A joint team from the Pune Police and Pune Municipal Corporation began demolition work early Monday morning, which is expected to continue into Tuesday. The action marks another step in the city’s ongoing crackdown on illegal constructions associated with local gangsters.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has launched a drive to cut off the financial networks of repeat offenders. Properties and bank accounts belonging to several well-known criminals, including Bandu Andekar, Nilesh Ghaywal, Gaja Marne, and Rizwan alias Tipu Pathan, are being seized or frozen.

Earlier, illegal buildings linked to Andekar in Nana Peth were also demolished, while an official letter has been sent to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to probe the assets of Nilesh Ghaywal.
