Pune, 20 April 2026: Shivajinagar is witnessing a intense summer heat, with the mercury crossing 40°C for three consecutive days. On Sunday, April 19, the city recorded a 40.7°C, the highest so far this season, indicating intensifying summer conditions.

The heat is not limited to daytime only. Night temperatures have also increased, with the minimum reaching 23.9°C, resulting in warmer and more uncomfortable nights for residents across the city.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Pune will continue to experience intense heat during the afternoons over the next three days. These hot conditions are expected to persist, especially during peak daytime hours.

However, the weather is likely to change later in the day, with cloudy skies developing by evening. The IMD has forecast rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning during the evening and late-night hours, offering temporary relief from the heat.

These changing weather conditions are linked to favourable pre-monsoon activity. A low-pressure trough extending from North Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar, along with cyclonic wind patterns between Maharashtra and Karnataka, is supporting thunderstorm development.

As a result, regions like Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha may also witness rain and gusty winds in the coming days.
