Pune Heatwave Eases Slightly; IMD Predicts Drop in Temperature Over Next Few Days

City recorded highs up to 39°C on Sunday; Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a slight drop in temperatures over the next 3 days

Pune, 16 March 2026: City has been experiencing intense heat over the past few days, with residents struggling to cope with the harsh afternoon sun and rising temperatures across the city.

However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a slight drop in temperature over the next two to three days, which may bring some relief to citizens.

On Sunday (March 15), the highest temperature in the city was recorded in Lohegaon at 39°C, while Koregaon Park registered 38°C. Other parts of the city including Shivajinagar, Magarpatta, Chinchwad, and Pashan recorded maximum temperatures of around 37°C.

The minimum temperature dropped by about 2°C, settling at 17.7°C. Although the city experienced partly cloudy conditions during the morning and evening, the intensity of the sun remained strong during the afternoon hours.

According to the weather department’s forecast, Monday (March 16) may see a slight increase in minimum temperature to around 18°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to dip slightly to about 36°C. The marginal drop could provide temporary relief from the ongoing heat wave in Pune.
