Pune, 21st July 2026: District collector Jitendra Dudi has imposed a ban on the entry of heavy and goods vehicles into the Pune city limits with immediate effect until further orders. The move aims to prevent traffic jams caused by stranded or broken-down trucks during the ongoing monsoon season.
The district administration has urged transporters and truck operators to strictly follow the designated diversion routes to ensure smooth traffic movement across the city.
Heavy vehicles travelling from Solapur towards Mumbai will now be diverted through the Kedgaon–Chaufula–Nhavare–Talegaon Dhamdhere–Shikrapur–Chakan route or via Uruli Kanchan–Koregaon Mul–Ashtapur–Talegaon Dhamdhere–Shikrapur–Chakan.
Vehicles coming from Mumbai towards Solapur have been instructed to use alternate routes through Talegaon Dabhade, Chakan, Shikrapur and Kedgaon–Chaufula, or via Uruli Kanchan. Another diversion has been provided through Katraj, Dive Ghat, Saswad, Jejuri, Morgaon and Supe before joining the Solapur highway.
Heavy vehicles travelling between Mumbai and Ahilyanagar have been diverted through Talegaon, Chakan, Khed, Manchar, Narayangaon and Alephata. Vehicles moving from Saswad towards Solapur must use the Saswad–Jejuri–Morgaon–Supe–Kedgaon–Chaufula route.
Vehicles arriving from Ahilyanagar must enter through Nagar Road, Wagholi, Kharadi Bypass, Shastrinagar Chowk, Golf Club Chowk, Alandi Road Junction, Chandrama Chowk, Poultry Chowk and Harris Bridge. Vehicles coming from Solapur have been directed to use the Magarpatta–Bhaironala–Lullanagar Chowk–Gangadham Chowk–Market Yard route.
Heavy vehicles heading towards Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur will continue via the Bengaluru Highway through Navale Bridge and Katraj. Vehicles entering Pune from Mumbai and Nashik have been directed to use the Harris Bridge–Bopodi–Chandrama Chowk–Golf Club Chowk–Market Yard route.
Goods vehicles entering Pune city for loading and unloading will be allowed only between 11 pm and 6 am.
District Collector Jitendra Dudi said the restrictions have been introduced as a precautionary measure because heavy vehicles often break down or get stranded during heavy rain, causing severe congestion on Pune's major roads. He added that the restrictions will remain in force until further orders.
