Delhi/Pune, 11 November 2025: A powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening killed at least thirteen people and injured more than 20. The blast occurred around 6:52 pm when a stationary car halted at a traffic signal suddenly exploded, setting nearby vehicles on fire and shattering window panes.
Following the incident, authorities in Maharashtra sounded a state-wide alert. Pune Railway Station has since witnessed heightened security. Additional manpower has been deployed inside and around the premises.
Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) teams and dog squads have been stationed at the railway station to monitor suspicious activity. Personnel from the Railway Police (RP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Pune City Police are conducting continuous checks.
Luggage screening has been made compulsory for all passengers. People have been urged to cooperate with officers and avoid entering platforms without putting their bags through X-ray scanners.
A Pune Police officer said the force has intensified checks and increased vigilance following orders from the state police headquarters. Similar security arrangements have been introduced at Pune Airport, metro stations, and major bus terminals.
The Delhi Police Commissioner confirmed that the blast took place when the vehicle was waiting at a red light. Several cars caught fire due to the impact, and emergency teams rushed the injured to nearby hospitals. An investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway.
