Pune: Housing societies will be fined Rs 10,000 if found violating COVID-19 norms

Pune: The district administration has already stated that if more than five cases of COVID-19 are found in any residential society, the society will be declared as micro-containment area. Also, if the society does not follow the dedicated norms and COVID-19, a fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed.

Housing societies will be closely monitored by the officials to prevent the further spread of the novel coronavirus. If more than five patients are found in the housing society, the Assistant Commissioner can declare the society as a micro containment zone.

Entry of the visitors, guests other than the residents of the housing society will be barred if the society is declared as micro containment zone. It will be mandatory for the society to put the notice of the same on the entry gates.

Last year, Pune witnessed maximum new cases from various slum pockets in the city but now the cases are largely found from the residential societies.

It is mandatory for housing societies to follow all COVID protocols. A fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed on the society if found violating the rules. A strict action will be taken in case of repeated violations. Also, RTPCR testing of workers coming into the society should be done. The order issued by the municipal corporation also states that vaccination should be done as per the guidelines of the Central Government.

Pune district on Monday recorded 8,077 new cases. Of the total, Pune city ( Pune Municipal Corporation) reported 4,077 cases followed by 2,152 in Pimpri Chinchwad (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation while rural area witnessed 1,386 new cases. The district saw 55 deaths on Monday. On the positive front, 8,307 patients were recovered in 24 hours.

Meanwhile, to restrict the further spread of the infection Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to shut all shops except those of essential services till April 30.
