Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad police have arrested Chairman of DewDale Co-operative Housing Society in Wakad on charges of duping Vishwa Vinayak Developers of Rs 12.5 lakh by using forged documents regarding development of the second floor in the D Wing of the society.

The suspect has been identified as Sudesh Sudhakar Raje and is been booked under sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code.

A complaint has been filed in this regard by Suhas Jayprakash Totale (35) of Vishwa Developers. According to the complaint, the incident took place between January 2018 to January 2021. The FIR was registered at Wakad police station on January 9, 2021 at about 10.45 pm.

According to police, Sudesh Raje was the chairman of DewDale Cooperative Housing Society and during his tenure he had engaged with Vishwa Vinayak Developers regarding the development work of second floor in D Wing of the society. It was decided in the society meeting that the deposit amount for the said work would be refundable.

However, Sudesh Raje forged the documents related to the development work and changed the mention of deposit amount as non-refundable. He later took Rs 15 lakh sans interest from the developer on the assurance that he would return it in 18 months.

Sudesh Raje returned a part of this payment however he did not return Rs 12.5 lakh. Hence the developer approached police and filed a complaint against Raje. Police Sub-Inspector SB Babar from Wakad police station is investigating the case.
