Pune: A congratulatory banner for US President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris has come up at the Foot Over Bridge (FOB) near Bharati Vidyapeeth college area of Pune in a ‘Puneri style’. The banner image has gone viral on the social media and has become the talk of the town.

The message written in typical Marathi style read Joe Biden as ‘bhau’ (brother) and Kamala Harris as ‘akka’ (sister). The message also has a Marathi remark 'ghasun nahi, thasun aloy' meaning 'we have won by crushing the opponents and not by a thin margin. The banner has been put up by one Popatrao Khopade claiming to be from a Shivpremi organisation.

Incidentally, the banner covers the directions board put up by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) which is causing inconvenience to motorists looking for such information.

Kamala Harris will make history as America's first woman, first person with colour and first person with south Asian and Indian roots to take the office of the Vice President in the US.
