Pune, 26th June 2026: A recent fatal accident near Dharmavat Petrol Pump in Pisoli has once again brought attention to the dangerous conditions on the Khadi Machine–Handewadi Road. Residents Blame Poor Traffic Management

Locals have accused the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Traffic Police of ignoring repeated complaints about road safety. They say poor traffic management, lack of regulation on heavy vehicles, and negligence have made daily commuting risky for both motorists and pedestrians.

The rapid growth of residential areas like Kondhwa, Undri, Pisoli, and Yewalewadi has significantly increased traffic on this route. With the proposed Ring Road still incomplete, all traffic is forced through this stretch, leading to severe congestion throughout the day.

Dangerous Conditions for Pedestrians

Residents say crossing the road at Khadi Machine Chowk has become extremely risky due to reckless driving. Damaged road dividers and non-functional streetlights between Khadi Machine Chowk and Hanuman Temple in Pisoli have further worsened safety, especially during nighttime.

Traffic jams have become a daily issue, particularly near Hanuman Temple where the road narrows. Even traffic police and wardens are reportedly struggling to control the heavy flow of vehicles, leading to chaotic conditions during peak hours.

Frustrated by the lack of action, residents and local representatives have demanded immediate repairs, better lighting, and strict regulation of heavy vehicles. They have warned that if authorities fail to act soon, they will organize protests against what they call ongoing administrative negligence.
