Pune, 19th June 2026: A leak in a drinking water pipeline near Dwarika Nagari Society, behind the ISKCON Temple on Katraj-Kondhwa Road, has sparked concern among residents, who have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take immediate corrective action.
The leak has reportedly been continuing for several days, leading to the wastage of a large quantity of potable water. The incident comes at a time when the city is grappling with water scarcity due to declining water levels in the dams supplying the city. Several areas are currently receiving water on alternate days as part of conservation measures.
Residents have expressed dissatisfaction over the loss of drinking water when citizens across the city are being asked to cope with restricted water supply. They have also raised concerns that such leakages could further strain the city's water resources if not addressed promptly.
"We have submitted a complaint to the Municipal Commissioner seeking immediate repairs to the leaking pipeline. The civic administration should also launch a special drive to identify illegal water connections and deploy dedicated teams to prevent water losses across the city," said local resident Sachin Shinde.
"Municipal staff inspected the site and found that the leakage was originating from a valve on the pipeline. Repair work will be carried out immediately and the leakage will be stopped," said PMC Branch Engineer Deepak Roman.
