Pune lockdown: Market Yard grocery market to reopen from Monday

Pune: The wholesale grocery market of the Market Yard, which was closed since Tuesday amid the coronavirus will reopen from Monday.

The Poona Merchant Chambers decided to close the grocery market after a few of the traders were tested positive for COVID-19 last week. The market was shut since Tuesday and the entire market has also been sanitised.

"We have discussed with APMC officials and the entire market has also been sanitised as per our demand. With restriction like compulsory temperature checking with the thermal detector and social distancing strictly imposed, we will be reopening the market from Monday," said Popatlal Ostwal, President of the Poona Merchant Chambers.

As per the directives issued by APMC, Pune, strict measures of social distancing will be followed by everyone. The market will remain open from 10 am to 3 pm, with only 100 vehicles being allowed at one time. Traders and workers from the containment zone are not allowed and if anyone comes from the containment zone, that shop will be immediately closed down. The entry and exit of everyone in the market will be recorded at the gate.
