MNS found around 2,000 duplicate names in Pune’s Bavdhan–Kothrud voter list.
Over 1,100 voters appear multiple times across different constituencies.
The party has urged the District Collector to delete duplicate entries.
Pune, 17 October 2025: With the civic body elections approaching, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has expressed significant worries regarding discrepancies in the city voter lists. MNS General Secretary Bala Shedge claimed that while verifying the electoral rolls for the Bavdhan–Kothrud ward, the party identified over 2,000 duplicate names.
During a press conference on Thursday, Shedge mentioned that the names of 1,158 voters were listed multiple times, and the party has collected evidence to back this claim. He further assert that these findings have been officially presented to the District Collector and requested the removal of the duplicate names from the voter rolls.
Shedge stated that the MNS employed specialized software to detect duplicate entries. 'There were instances where voters not only shared the same names but also had identical photographs. In certain cases, the same person was registered in the Khadakwasla, Bhor, and Kothrud constituencies, with only slight differences in the spelling of their names or alterations in their addresses,' he mentioned.
Narendra Tamboli, the Vice President of the MNS Workers’ Union, Rajendra Vedepatil, the Kothrud Division Secretary, Prashant Mate, the City Organizer, along with numerous other city leaders, were present at the press conference.
Raising a question about recurring election issues, Shedge pointed out that even after repeated complaints during past polls, such discrepancies persist. “Every election, voters report these issues at polling booths, yet the same problems continue in the next election,” he remarked, urging the administration to take firm corrective action before polling day.
