The accused has been identified as Aniket Mahesh Waghmare (26), a resident of Hingne Khurd. A case has been registered at the Sinhgad Road Police Station based on a complaint filed by police constable Shrikant Kirwale (29), who is attached to Managaon Police Station.

Waghmare was arrested earlier in connection with the murder of Aditya Ganesh Bhagat (22), a resident of Bhosari, originally from Solapur district. According to police investigations, Bhagat was allegedly murdered by his friends in the Tamhini Ghat under the pretext of a trip to Mahabaleshwar. Waghmare and co-accused Tushar alias Sonya Patole (24), a resident of Karvenagar, were arrested in the case.

The duo was first apprehended by Baner Police Station while attempting to sell the victim’s stolen motorcycle and was later handed over to Managaon police for further investigation.

On Wednesday evening, a Managaon police team brought Waghmare to Hingne Khurd for a spot inspection near Laxmi Vihar Apartments. During the investigation, Waghmare suddenly pushed constable Kirwale and fled.

Police immediately launched a manhunt and deployed multiple teams to trace him. Further investigation is being carried out by Crime Inspector Ulhas Kadam.
