The deceased has been identified as Payal Kishor Rajguru, a resident of Arihant Complex in Mahavir Society, Vitthalnagar. Originally from Kasar Amboli in Mulshi taluka, Payal had been living in a rented apartment with her friends while pursuing a nursing course.

According to the complaint filed by her father, Kishor Rajguru, Payal had been staying with a few young women who were working in private jobs. A few days before the incident, some cash reportedly went missing from the apartment.

Following the incident, the roommates allegedly accused Payal of theft and repeatedly threatened to defame her.

Police said the continued accusations and harassment reportedly caused severe mental distress to the young woman.

On the morning of March 9, Payal allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in the apartment. Police recovered a suicide note written by her before the incident.

In the note, she mentioned that her roommates had accused her of stealing money and threatened to tarnish her reputation.

Based on the complaint, Chandan Nagar police have registered a case against three young women for abetment to suicide. Further investigation in the case is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Dashrath Talewadar.
