The project is aimed at expanding the public transport network in Pimpri Chinchwad while improving connectivity between residential, commercial, and industrial areas. During the presentation, Maha Metro also introduced the concept of developing a Ring Metro network in the future by extending the metro from Nigdi to Chakan via Talawade.

According to the proposed plan, the new metro corridor will connect with existing and upcoming metro stations at Bhakti Shakti, Wakad Chowk, Nashik Phata, and Sant Tukaram Nagar, allowing smoother transfers across the city's metro network.

The DPR also proposes the development of multimodal transport hubs at Bhakti Shakti Chowk, Bhujbal Chowk, Vallabhnagar, and Moshi to improve integration between Metro services and other modes of public transport.

The project has been designed keeping in mind the city's future population growth, industrial expansion, and increasing passenger demand. Officials said the expanded metro network is expected to support long-term urban mobility while reducing dependence on private vehicles.

Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar presented the DPR before public representatives, including Members of Parliament, MLAs, civic leaders, and municipal officials. The proposal will now be placed before the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's General Body for approval before moving to the next stage of the project.
