Pune, 29th June 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has directed all its departments to complete preparations for the arrival of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi processions.
Additional Commissioner Prajit Nair emphasized the need to ensure a safe, clean, and obstruction-free route for lakhs of Warkaris visiting the city.
The civic body has ordered the immediate removal of encroachments, illegal hoardings, and unauthorized welcome arches along the Palkhi route. Officials have been instructed to ensure smooth movement of the procession by clearing all obstacles and maintaining discipline along the route.
Special focus has been placed on the ongoing construction work at Vishrantwadi Chowk. Authorities have been asked to install proper barricades and safety measures to prevent accidents and allow Warkaris to pass safely through the area.
The road department has been directed to repair potholes and ensure that roads are in good condition before the procession arrives. Meanwhile, the Solid Waste Management Department will arrange portable toilets, sanitation facilities, and regular cleaning to maintain hygiene along the route.
The electrical department will provide adequate lighting, CCTV surveillance, and backup power, while the health department will deploy medical teams, ambulances, and essential medicines for emergencies. Ward offices will also ensure cleanliness, remove illegal posters, and trim tree branches.
Other departments, including water supply and building, will provide drinking water and temporary shelters for Warkaris. PMC has also planned to set up a control room for coordination and is considering installing foot massage machines to support pilgrims during their long journey.
