The special enforcement campaign was carried out by the city traffic branch from December 19 to December 21. During this period, police teams set up 30 checkpoints at various locations across the city and conducted systematic checks of vehicle drivers.

As a result of the operation, 201 drivers were found driving under the influence of alcohol and were booked under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. Penal action was taken against all offenders as per the law.

Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said that drunk driving is a serious offence as it endangers not only the driver’s life but also the safety of other road users. He added that such behaviour significantly increases the risk of accidents and urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules.

The traffic police have clarified that similar special drives will continue in the coming days to ensure safer roads and to discourage violations that put public lives at risk.
