Pune 23 December 2025: The Police Commissioner has suspended its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Pravin Vitthal Ghadge, for allegedly misusing his official position and attempting to influence criminal investigations and complaint inquiries by exerting undue pressure on senior officers.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale, Ghadge took advantage of his role as PRO and projected himself as being close to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. He allegedly contacted investigating officers and senior police inspectors directly over the phone, pressuring them in ongoing investigations and inquiry applications.
Police officials stated that Ghadge repeatedly implied that his interventions were based on instructions from the Police Commissioner, even though no such directions were given. This created undue influence on officers handling sensitive cases and administrative inquiries.
After the matter came to light, an internal inquiry was conducted through an Assistant Commissioner of Police. The investigation found that Ghadge, without informing his superiors, interfered in case investigations and inquiry processes, misused his designation, and attempted to influence officers unofficially.
The inquiry concluded that his conduct was irresponsible, unethical, and detrimental to lawful police action. It also noted that his actions harmed the public image of the police force and amounted to serious misconduct unbecoming of a government servant.
Based on these findings, DCP Nikhil Pingale ordered the suspension of Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Pravin Vitthal Ghadge, who was then posted with the Bharosa Cell and holding additional charge as the Commissionerate’s PRO.
