The traffic branch started a special enforcement drive on November 10, following rising indiscipline and growing complaints about autorickshaw behaviour in the city. In just 17 days, special teams recorded violations across different areas, targeting illegally operating autos and those flouting basic traffic norms.

Key offences included overloading passengers, parking in no-parking zones, misuse of the front seat, driving without the mandatory uniform, missing documents, jumping signals, driving in the wrong direction, and refusing rides to commuters.

Police officials said the campaign aims to reduce congestion and ensure better safety for Pune’s commuters. Traffic Deputy Commissioner Himmat Jadhav urged rickshaw drivers to follow rules strictly, stop only at authorised stands, avoid illegal parking, maintain lane discipline, and charge passengers strictly as per the meter.

He added that polite behaviour and discipline from drivers would help ease Pune’s growing traffic challenges.
