Pune, 6th October 2026: Pune Police have warned of legal action against participants continuing protests over the functioning and decisions of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) without permission.
Police have denied permission for the ongoing demonstrations at three locations in the city and said the protests are being treated as unauthorised.
Police have issued notices to 29 private coaching and study-centre operators and 51 students for allegedly providing direct or indirect support to the protests despite the denial of permission.
Students preparing for competitive examinations have been protesting over various MPSC-related demands, including issues concerning the examination system and the functioning of the commission. Police said organisers had earlier been instructed not to continue the protests without the required permission.
The protests are currently being held near S.M. Joshi Bridge, Lokmanya Tilak Chowk and Shastri Road. Police personnel have been deployed at the protest sites to prevent any law-and-order situation.
Police have also collected video footage and other information from the protest locations. Officials said the material will be verified and further legal action will be taken against those found violating the instructions.
Police have asked the protesters and other concerned persons to comply with the directions issued by the authorities.
Police have also noticed drone filming at the protest site near S.M. Joshi Bridge in Navi Peth. According to the police, the drone was operated without the required permission.
An inquiry is underway to identify the person who operated the drone. Police said action will be taken if the use of the drone is found to have violated applicable rules.
