Patil made the announcement during the inauguration of the new Anand Nagar Police Chowki at Vitthalwadi on Sinhagad Road. The new facility has been developed using MLA funds allocated by Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal.

Emphasizing the role of community partnership in policing, Patil underlined the need for active cooperation between citizens, elected representatives, and the police for maintaining order and ensuring smoother traffic flow in Pune.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar also shared that the state home department has approved the creation of seven new police stations in Pune. Additionally, funds have been sanctioned for installing CCTV surveillance systems across the city. Kumar expressed confidence that the expansion in infrastructure and manpower will boost public safety and help the police meet rising expectations of the citizens.

Minister Madhuri Misal, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the recent expansion of Pune city police limits to include areas previously under rural jurisdiction. She informed that a new police station near Rajaram Bridge will be operational within the next two months, which will further strengthen policing in the extended regions.

The newly inaugurated Anand Nagar Chowki features modern amenities including separate rest areas for male and female staff and a dedicated cyber unit to handle online crime complaints. Misal added that a proposal is in the pipeline to upgrade the cyber unit into a full-fledged cyber police station, reflecting the administration’s growing focus on tackling cybercrime in the digital age.
