Pune Police Seized ₹25 Lakh Worth of Mephedrone in Chandan Nagar

Crime Branch arrests habitual offender, 42-year-old man from Rajasthan; 120 grams of MD recovered from Wadgaon Sheri area

Pune, 9th January 2026: Police have seized mephedrone (MD) worth approximately ₹25 lakh and arrested a repeated offender in the Chandan Nagar area of the city. The operation was carried out by the Crime Branch following a tip-off about illegal drug sales in the Wadgaon Sheri.

The arrested accused has been identified as Ratan Nath Mohan Nath Yogi (42), a resident of Sopan Nagar, Wadgaon Sheri, and originally from Rajasthan. Acting on specific information, the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Crime Branch laid a trap near a farmhouse close to an ice cream factory, where the accused was allegedly selling the banned substance.

During the search, police recovered 120 grams of mephedrone, along with an electronic weighing scale, a mobile phone, and cash. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth around ₹25 lakh in the illegal market.

A case has been registered at Chandan Nagar Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officers of Pune Police, reinforcing the state’s ongoing efforts to curb the spread of synthetic drugs in urban Maharashtra.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify others involved in the drug network operating in Pune.
