Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has rushed to Pune Police to seek help to find passengers who returned from Britain from December 1 as 109 passengers are untraceable from December 1.

Pune administration has received the list of 542 passengers returning from Britain. Out of 542 passengers who returned from Britain, 109 are untraceable in Pune. The health department informing the Pune police stated the address and phone number provided by passengers are untraceable. Some of them have switched off their mobile phones while some are not present at the address mentioned.

Some of them have wrong addresses or the contact numbers of some are not reachable. Meanwhile, the administration has reserved an entire floor at Naidu Hospital with 50 beds and 8 ICU beds if any passenger tests positive.

“There is a list of 300 people. Over 270 people have already gone under RTPCR testing but some names are missing from the list. The PMC has submitted a letter to the police on the same and has filed a complaint too,” said Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol.

Dr Pradip Awate, Maharashtra Surveillance Officer, Epidemiology Department (ED) has stated that the new coronavirus strain found in the UK not yet detected in Maharashtra. The health department has made it clear that they are ready to tackle every possible situation.

Recently, a person who returned from the UK tested positive for coronavirus in Pune. The patient’s swab samples are already being sent to the NIV (National Institute of Virology) for genome sequencing. The central government has ordered for tracing of all passengers returning from Britain amid the new coronavirus emerged there.
