Pune, 28 April 2026: Railway services at Pune Railway Station have been severely disrupted on Tuesday, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. Around eight trains have been cancelled, while several others are running late by up to two hours due to technical and operational issues.
The disruption follows an incident on Monday evening, when a coach of the Vande Bharat Express operating on the Mumbai–Solapur route experienced a wheel derailment near the station. This led to operational complications, affecting train movements into Tuesday.
Local train services between Pune and Lonavala have also been impacted. Instead of departing from Pune station, these trains are now operating from Shivajinagar Railway Station. As a result, commuters are being forced to travel additionally to Shivajinagar, adding to their inconvenience.
Several long-distance trains, including those running between Pune and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Pune–Nizamuddin, and Mumbai–Kolhapur and Bengaluru routes, have either been delayed or rescheduled due to the disruption.
According to Central Railway Pune Division PRO Hemant Behra, the situation is expected to gradually return to normal from the afternoon. He stated that although services have been temporarily affected, efforts are underway to restore smooth operations as soon as possible.
Passengers have been advised to check the status of their trains before starting their journey, arrive early at stations, and consider alternative travel options wherever feasible.
