Pune: RDX Threat Email Triggers Security Scare at Baner Passport Office

Police register case after bomb threat mail; no suspicious material found during search

Pune, 27 February 2026: A bomb threat email warning of an RDX explosion at the Regional Passport Office in Baner created panic in Pune on Thursday morning. The email was received at around 10:07 am on the official email ID of the office located on the Baner–Pashan Link Road.

According to police officials, the message claimed that the office would be blown up using RDX. Soon after receiving the alert, police teams rushed to the spot and secured the area. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted a detailed inspection of the premises to ensure safety.

However, no suspicious object or explosive material was found during the search operation.

Based on a complaint filed by passport office official Jatin Pote (51), a resident of Baner, Baner Police Station registered a case against an unknown person. Police are now tracing the origin of the threatening email and investigating the matter further.
