Pune road widening project: Suggestions of housing societies will be taken under consideration

Pune: The decision on widening of six-metre roads will be taken only after studying the number of societies built on the road and the demands and suggestions of the housing societies, said Standing Committee Chairman, Hemant Rasne.

Also, the decision will be taken after considering the suggestions or objections of the residential societies. If more than fifty societies or homeowners on a road found raising objections, the PMC will decide to consider the widening of that road later.

Standing Committee Chairman Hemant Rasne said, "In the first phase, the Municipal Corporation had proposed to widen 350 roads. Considering the objections raised by the residents, a separate chart of 1 to 350 such roads will be prepared. It will scrutinise that how many objections have been raised on the widening of each road here or how many societies are built here. If there are 50 societies on such road and if only two of them have raised objections and others do not raise any objection, they will be given the priority.”

“It is prohibited to widen the roads in the city using TDR construction or by using additional FSI. This has troubled the redevelopment of old societies. Now, the decision has been taken to pave the way for their redevelopment. Now, if housing society do not want TDR or additional FSI, their suggestions will also be taken into consideration,” he added.

The subject of road development is making a buzz in Pune as the PMC plans to widen narrow roads.
