Pune, 15th June 2026: The historic 100th edition of the Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Sammelan will be hosted at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) from January 28 to 31, 2027. The four-day literary convention is expected to be organised on a grand scale, according to Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Mahamandal President Yogesh Soman.
The announcement was made after a key meeting of the Mahamandal's office-bearers and members in Pune. Representatives unanimously approved the venue and dates for the landmark event.
Earlier, a venue selection committee had inspected several locations, including SP College, Fergusson College, and the university campus, before finalising the university as the host venue.
Speaking about the decision, Soman said the university offers a large venue, ample parking facilities, and strong institutional support. He added that Vice-Chancellor Suresh Gosavi assured full cooperation from the university administration, including its faculty and staff, to ensure the success of the convention.
The meeting was attended by organisers and senior office-bearers of the Mahamandal, along with noted writer and President of the 99th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, Vishwas Patil.
As part of the build-up to the centenary convention, the Mahamandal will launch a statewide initiative titled 'Nandi Shambharavya Sahitya Sammelanachi'. Under the program, 99 literary events will be organised across Maharashtra, including in 48 towns and cities that have previously hosted Marathi literary conventions, excluding Pune and Mumbai.
These literary activities will take place between August 15, 2026, and January 15, 2027, aiming to celebrate Marathi literature and generate enthusiasm ahead of the historic 100th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan.
