Pune, 24 October 2025: The city’s traffic authorities have issued a joint advisory warning commuters about heavy traffic expected on major highways connecting Pune and neighbouring cities during the Diwali festival. From October 24 to 27, highways including NH-48, NH-50, and NH-65 are likely to experience significant congestion.
Vehicles traveling from Kolhapur towards Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Mira-Bhayandar on NH-48 may face delays, while traffic from Nashik and surrounding areas towards Pune via Chakan on NH-50 is expected to rise. Similarly, commuters traveling from Solapur to Pune on NH-65 should anticipate increased vehicle volume.
Authorities have urged travellers to plan trips according to traffic conditions, avoid peak hours between 7 am–11 am and 5 pm–9 pm, consider alternate routes, and use public transport wherever possible. Following traffic rules and police instructions is emphasized to ensure a smooth and safe journey.
The advisory has been jointly released by the Superintendent of Police, State Highways Pune, and the Deputy Commissioners of Police (Traffic) for Pune City and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
