Pune, 24th July 2026: The City Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of a protest march organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Thursday (July 24) in support of students who allegedly faced police action during a protest in Delhi.

The march has also been organised to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over issues related to students and the NEET-UG paper leak controversy.

The protest march will begin at 3 pm from Shaniwar Wada (Lal Mahal area) and proceed via Phadke Haud, Daruwala Bridge, Narpatgiri Chowk, and Bolai Mata Mandir Chowk before concluding at the District Collector's Office.

Traffic Diversions on Major Roads

The Traffic Police said temporary diversions and congestion are likely on Ganesh Road, Kelkar Road, Shivaji Road, and Nehru Road during the procession. Commuters travelling through central Pune have been advised to avoid these routes, especially after 3 pm, and allow extra travel time.

Motorists have been advised to use the following alternate roads wherever possible:

  • Lakshmi Road

  • Surya Hospital–25 August Chowk Road

  • ABC Chowk–Futka Buruj Road

  • Jungli Maharaj Road–Riverside Road–Tilak Road

  • Banerjee Chowk–Nehru Memorial Road

Traffic Police said route changes will be implemented depending on the movement of the procession and the prevailing traffic situation. Citizens have been requested to follow instructions issued by traffic personnel on duty.

According to the organisers, the march has been called to condemn the alleged police action against students who recently protested in Delhi over the NEET-UG paper leak and other education-related issues.

They said the protest also seeks accountability from the Central Government over concerns raised by students and reiterates the demand for Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.
