Pune, 13 March 2026: The Pune Traffic Police’s citizen engagement platform, the Pune Traffic App (PTP), has received national recognition after winning the 107th SKOCH Award, considered one of the prestigious honours in the field of digital innovation.
The award will be presented at a ceremony scheduled on March 28 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
The app was launched on June 14, 2025, with the idea that responsible citizens can act as 'police without a khaki uniform' by helping authorities report traffic violations and civic issues.
The initiative was launched under the guidance of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, and developed by Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil and Deputy Commissioner Himat Jadhav.
Technical support for the project was provided by Omnibridge Technology director Rajendra Kane, police constable Sharad Daund, and Krish Intratrade.
In the past eight months, the app has been downloaded by over 1.4 lakh citizens. Through the platform, citizens have reported more than two lakh traffic violations by uploading photographs, based on which traffic police have imposed fines exceeding ₹12 crore on violators.
Apart from reporting traffic violations, citizens have also used the app to report road accidents, vehicle breakdowns, potholes, oil spills, waterlogging, and fallen trees. More than 5,400 such issues have been reported, of which nearly 80 percent were addressed promptly by the Pune Municipal Corporation.
The SKOCH Award selection process included project presentations, evaluation by an expert jury, and online voting by citizens across the country. The PTP app stood out for its innovation, transparency, and positive impact on society.
“This award gives national recognition to the technology-driven initiatives of Pune Police. We will continue to involve citizens to make city traffic safer and more disciplined,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil.
