Pune, 26 July 2025: In a move to ease congestion and improve traffic flow, the Pune city traffic police have announced temporary changes to the movement of heavy vehicles in and around the Market Yard and Kondhwa areas.

As per the revised plan, heavy vehicles such as trucks, dumpers, mixers, and containers will be allowed to travel between Tilak Chowk and Aai Mata Temple Height Barrier only during the night, between 10 PM and 8 AM. However, from Aai Mata Temple Height Barrier to Gangadham Chowk, the movement of all heavy vehicles is completely restricted at all hours.

Similarly, in the Kondhwa area, vehicles like trucks, mixers, dumpers, and containers will not be allowed to operate from 8 AM to 10 PM on the following routes:

  • Lullanagar to Gangadham Chowk to Chandralok Hospital Chowk

  • Gangadham Chowk to Vakhar Mahamandal Chowk to Seven Loves Chowk

In a special arrangement for goods transport, heavy vehicles entering at night and heading to the Market Yard will be allowed to unload goods during the daytime, but only on the private road belonging to the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) between Vakhar Mahamandal Chowk and Gate No. 9 of Market Yard.

Traffic DCP Himmat Jadhav stated that these steps have been taken to streamline traffic movement and reduce congestion caused by heavy vehicles in busy residential and commercial areas.
