Commuters in Hinjewadi, Wakad, and Pimple Gurav should expect road closures and traffic diversions on Thursday, April 2, due to the Bagad procession honoring the village deity Mhatoba. The event is expected to draw 40,000–50,000 devotees, prompting traffic changes across key areas.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police announced that closures will begin at 11 am and last until 10 pm, with exceptions for emergency vehicles. Major affected roads include Tata T-Junction to Wakad Naka, Geometric Circle to Wakad Naka, Shivaji Chowk to Bhumkar Chowk, and Indian Oil Chowk to Vinode Vasti Chowk. Alternative routes via Laxmi Chowk, Bhumkar Chowk, Wakad Gaothan, and Wakad Over Bridge will be in place.
The main Bagad procession will start at 3 pm, moving from Wakad Gaothan to Hinjewadi village, while a concurrent Gaivatra Bagad procession will take place in Pimple Gurav. Commuters are advised to follow police directions and plan alternate routes to avoid congestion and ensure public safety.
Tata T Chowk to Wakad Naka: The route is closed. Traffic will be redirected via Wipro Circle Phase 2, Shivaji Chowk, and Tata T Junction, then left toward Bhumkar Chowk.
Geometric Circle to Wakad Naka:The route is closed. Vehicles will be diverted from Meja-9 Chowk with a left turn toward Bhumkar Chowk.
Shivaji Chowk to Bhumkar Chowk: The route is closed. Commuters are required to take the Indian Oil Chowk route towards Wakadgav.
Indian Oil Chowk to Vinode Vasti Chowk:The route is closed. Vehicles heading to Hinjawadi Gavthan via Kasturi Chowk will be rerouted through Shivaji Chowk in the direction of Wakadgaon.
Indian Oil Chowk to Wakad Naka & Sayaji Underpass: The route is closed. Traffic will be diverted through Wakad Overbridge and Wakadgav.
Mula River Bridge (Pancharatna) to Wakad Naka (Bhujbal Chowk): The route has been closed. Commuters will be diverted to use the Service Road towards Wakad village and the Hinjawadi Highway.
Datta Mandir Chowk to Pimple Gurav Kaman: Route closed. Traffic will be diverted via the Bank of Maharashtra towards Shivganesh Chowk.
DCP Vivek Patil has urged citizens to cooperate with the traffic police, strictly utilize the designated alternative routes, and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the festival.
Kaspate Chowk to Wakadgav Chowk: Route closed. Vehicles must take a right from Kaspate Chowk towards Jagtap Dairy Chowk.
Mankar Chowk to Wakadgav Chowk: Route closed. Vehicles can either proceed via Kalewadi Phata or take a left from Mankar Chowk towards Kaspate Chowk.
Kaspate Corner to Wakadgav Chowk: Route closed. Traffic will be diverted to the right towards Mhatoba Chowk via Pink City Road.
Vehicles from Mhatoba Chowk will be routed via Mankar Kaspate Chowk.
Wakadgav Chowk to Wakad Gavthan & Wakad Naka: Route closed. Traffic will be diverted via Datta Mandir Road.
Jaguar Showroom to Sayaji Underpass (Service Road): Route closed. Commuters must use the main highway.
Datta Mandir Road (Utkarsh Chowk to Wakadgaon Chowk): The route is closed. Vehicles approaching from Utkarsh Chowk must turn left, while those coming from Mhatoba Chowk must turn right at Utkarsh Chowk onto Datta Mandir Road.
