Pune, 10 October 2025: To ensure the quality of food at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) canteen, the university administration has resolved to form a Canteen Quality Control Committee. This committee will consist of ten students, with an equal representation of five male and five female members, tasked with maintaining hygiene and quality in the university's dining areas.

Assistant Registrar Shivaji Uttekar released a circular revealing that the committee plans to engage students in overseeing the quality of the university canteen. SPPU's hostels house students from undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs, many of whom rely on the university canteen for their daily meals.

Students who are interested need to send their applications via their hostel wardens to the Assistant Registrar's Office (House Management Department) by October 15. If there aren't enough applications, some positions might not be filled.

Students who served on last year's quality control committee are ineligible to apply again. The new committee will have a one-year term and will operate exclusively for the canteen, as explained by Uttekar, under the supervision of the Canteen and Snack Centre Vigilance Committee.
