Pune University to conduct exams online from March; check details here

The first and second-year exams at SPPU (Pune University) will be held in 50 marks online MCQ format while the exam timings will be for one hour for each subject.

Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University, SPPU on Tuesday finally decided to conduct examinations in online mode from next month (March). Around 6.5 lakh students are expected to appear for the online examinations this year. The decision on which device (laptops or mobile phones) students are supposed to appear the exam will be made in coming three-four days.

The decision about the exams was taken on Tuesday in a special Board of Examinations meeting held at the SPPU building where the decision on mode of exams along with others was also made. Manohar Chaskar, Dean, Faculty of Science, SPPU, said, “The final year exams will be conducted differently, so the training for the same will be given to the professors. Before the written test, students will be provided with video tutorials on how to write the answer paper, its scanning, the QR code and its upload and more. This will help to solve the difficulties of students as well as professors.”

According to media reports, the University may conduct the first-year session exams from March 30 while second and final year exams would be held from March 15. Till date over 3 lakh students have registered for the exams.

ONLINE MCQ FORMAT

The first and second-year exams will be held in 50 marks online MCQ format while the exam timings will be for one hour for each subject. The final year exams would be of total 70 marks, including 50 marks MCQ while 20 are reserved for descriptive, long-answer format examinations. The total exam duration would be 1.5 hours. Meanwhile, the students from final year classes are already being evaluated internally for 30 marks.
