Pune: Cylinder Explosion at Kidzee Pre-School in Wagholi; Swift Fire Response Averts Major Mishap

Fire breaks out in Pune school premises, causes damage but no casualties reported; Firefighters acted quickly to control the blaze and avert further danger

Pune, 6th April 2026: A fire broke out at Kidzee Pre-School in the IV Estate area on Sunday evening, in Wagholi, leading to the explosion of a gas cylinder. Fortunately, the school was closed for the day, preventing any injuries or loss of life.

The incident occurred around 6:15 pm. After receiving information, a fire brigade team from the Wagholi fire station reached the spot promptly with a fire engine. The presence of two gas cylinders increased the risk, and one of them exploded during the fire.

Despite the challenging situation, firefighters handled the operation carefully and removed the second cylinder safely. Due to the intensity of the blaze, two additional fire engines from the Kharadi fire station were called for support. With joint efforts, the fire was successfully brought under control.

No casualties were reported, but the fire caused significant damage to school property, including furniture, books, and other educational materials.
