Pune, 15 July 2025: Water supply in several parts of central, southern, and western Pune will be shut down on Thursday, July 17, due to urgent repair work at the main pipeline near the Parvati water purification plant. The repair aims to fix a significant leakage, and the disruption will affect areas served by the Old and New Parvati, Warje, and SNDT purification plants.
The Pune Water Supply Department has informed that the shutdown will impact neighborhoods including all the Peth areas in central Pune, Kothrud, Karvenagar, Chandani Chowk, Pan Card Club, Chatushrungi, and Pashan. The water supply is expected to resume on Friday, July 18, but only by late morning and at reduced pressure.
In the central zone, major areas such as Guruwar Peth, Kashewadi, Nana Peth, Ghorpade Peth, Bhavani Peth, and Somwar Peth will see no water on Thursday. Parts of Bibwewadi, Mukundnagar, Sahakarnagar, and other localities like Gangadham and Padmavati will also be affected.
Additionally, major western localities including Bavdhan, Baner, Balewadi, Warje, and Chandani Chowk will face complete water cuts, as well as hilly areas and several large housing societies.
Northern parts of the city including Shivajinagar, Model Colony, Gokhalenagar, and parts of Senapati Bapat Road will also be without water as they fall under the SNDT pumping zone. Residential and commercial areas along the Mumbai-Pune Bypass Road, including housing societies, slum settlements, and industrial pockets, will also face supply disruptions.
The water department has urged citizens to make adequate preparations and store enough water in advance. The statement added that supply will resume by Friday but may be irregular and with low pressure for some time until the network is fully restored.
