Pune, 16th October 2026: There is possibility of rain in parts of Maharashtra over the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms between Friday, October 16, and Monday, October 19. Pune may also receive rain between October 19 and 21, with partly cloudy skies expected during the afternoon and evening hours.
According to the IMD, isolated places in Konkan, Goa and Vidarbha may receive rainfall, while some areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada could also experience showers. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are possible at isolated locations.
The weather department has attributed the changing conditions to a trough extending from northeast Uttar Pradesh to the east-central Arabian Sea, passing through eastern Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. This system is likely to contribute to increased cloud cover over parts of the state.
The southwest monsoon withdrew from the entire country on Thursday, October 15. Despite the seasonal withdrawal, local weather systems may continue to bring rainfall to some regions.
Minimum temperatures across parts of Konkan, Goa and Vidarbha have risen slightly above their respective averages at isolated locations. However, temperatures in several parts of Konkan, Goa, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada remain close to seasonal averages.
The IMD has forecast mainly clear skies in Pune and surrounding areas on Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17. From Sunday, October 18, to Wednesday, October 21, skies are expected to remain mostly clear during the morning, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon or evening.
The possibility of rainfall is expected to persist between October 19 and 21. Residents should keep an eye on updated forecasts, as the timing and intensity of any showers may vary.
