Pune has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the fourth consecutive day, accompanied by strong, stormy winds that have caused several trees to fall across the city. On Thursady, a woman lost her life after a tree collapsed onto a platform in the Navshya Maruti area near Pula Deshpande Garden. According to reports, the sudden downpour began around 2 pm, bringing gusty winds and, in some areas, hailstorms.

The incident occurred following a spell of intense rain that lashed the city, weakening the tree and causing it to fall directly onto the road. The sudden collapse resulted in significant traffic congestion, with vehicles stranded on both sides as authorities rushed to manage the situation.

In addition to fallen trees, several localities have reported waterlogging, causing traffic disruptions and challenges for residents trying to navigate flooded roads. Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel during the ongoing inclement weather.

Pune and its suburbs were hit by another intense spell of rain and gusty winds on Thursday afternoon, bringing relief from the scorching heat but also triggering disruptions across several areas. In the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad areas, nearly 25 mm of rainfall was recorded within just 25 minutes, with wind speeds ranging between 28 and 35 km/h. The intense spell led to waterlogging in parts of Hinjewadi and western Pune, while gale-force winds uprooted trees and damaged vehicles.

The incident highlights the risks posed by heavy rains, particularly from weakened trees and infrastructure across the city. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions.
