Pune, 17 June 2025: In a shocking incident reported from Pune’s Yerawada area, a wine shop employee was brutally attacked by a local resident after being denied alcohol on credit. The incident occurred at around 9 pm on June 15 at MS Wines in Yerawada, leaving the employee with severe injuries on his face.

According to Yerawada police, the accused, identified as Rohit Pille (27), a resident of Jay Jawan Nagar, Lakshminagar, entered the shop demanding alcohol on credit and promised to pay later. However, the employee, Karan Santosh Ahuja (28), who resides in Vishrantwadi, refused to entertain his demand citing the owner’s strict policy against credit sales.

Enraged by the refusal, Pille allegedly turned violent and began threatening Ahuja. The heated argument quickly escalated when Pille broke the shop’s glass window using a metal cleaver and hurled the weapon inside, attacking Ahuja directly on his face. The victim suffered serious injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shirke of Yerawada Police Station confirmed that the accused has been arrested and was paraded in the locality as a warning against such acts of violence. He further stated that the victim is undergoing treatment and is out of danger.

A case has been registered against Pille under Sections 118(2), 351(2), and 324(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, in addition to relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act. Police have assured strict action and increased patrolling in the area to prevent similar incidents.
