Railways starts parcel booking helpline

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: The Pune Railway Division, every day, gets a staggering 650 complaints about parcel department’s mismanagement. A week ago, 29-year-old Baner resident Mayank Bhardwaj booked his motorcycle for Jaipur on the same train that he was travelling on. He reached Jaipur on time, but his motorcycle only reached four days later.

When he contacted the railway officials, he was informed that his bike had not been dispatched and he will get it in a couple of days.

Mayank used Twitter to complain about this to the railway officials, tagging divisional Railway manager and Rail Seva. After a prompt response from the Railways, he got his bike, highlighting the negligence of the parcel booking department.

Mayank’s complaint is one of the approximately 650 that the Pune Railway Division gets about parcel delivery each day. This includes written complaints, telephonic complaints and tweeted grievances.

Now, DRM Milind Deouskar has decided to make sure that all travellers, who book their parcels from the Pune junction will get
it on time.

“After receiving complaints from passengers, it has been decided to release helpline number for passengers voicing issues related with the parcel booking office. The commercial department is responsible for the parcel department,” said acting spokesperson of Pune Railway Sanjay Kumar.

Pune Railway Division has released the helpline number 8956943565 to get all information related to parcel issues.
