ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: More than 500 people, mostly from the animal health industry, participated in a public awareness rally ‘EggChi Walkethon’ by Vets In Poultry (VIP) Association at JM Road on July 28.

The rally started from Balgandharva Rangmandir travelling JM Road via FC Road and ended at Sambhaji Udyan.

President of VIP Dr Ajay Deshpande was present at the event.

“We represent the technocrat face of the industry and conveyed a message about the production system and it’s rigorous controls for addressing nutritional requirement of the society, especially when we, as a country are topmost in production of eggs but lag behind in consumption. This was also a good platform to clarify the myths and misleadings of media and society towards consuming eggs and chicken,” said Dr Pedgoankar of GM Venkatehswara Hatcheries.

BVC Dean Dr Ajit Ranade and Dr VR Kulkarni also addressed the rally. The volunteers interacted with shopkeepers, bus drivers and local residents, informing them about the nutritional composition of eggs and chicken.
