Residents of PPHS in Kondhwa write to PM

Pune: As many as 20 families of Prathamesh Park Housing Society (PPHS) in Kondhwa are irked as their society entrance has been blocked due to the construction of walls allegedly by two companies on the Katraj-Kondhwa road, behind Shiv Parvati Mangal Karyalaya, which is the approach road to the society.

The residents have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue after PMC failed to remove the decade-old encroachment on the approach road and could not find a solution to the problem despite complaints.

The residents had urged the Kondhwa police to investigate the issue and punish all those who were found obstructing the road construction including officials of the road department.
Madhusudhan Korekar, co-ordinator of the society, said, “We had pleaded about this to Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao. He forwarded the application to the encroachment department but we didn’t receive any reply from them till date.

We have also sent letters to the Chief Secretary of the State to take immediate action but here also our complaints fell on deaf ears.”

He further added, “Around 20 families stay in this society, which includes eight to nine senior citizens. As the approach road to the society is blocked, people have to use the alternate road, but it is not in a suitable condition to travel. Moreover, there is not enough space for auto-rickshaws to drop the old people near the gate so they have to walk for a stretch of 300 metres.

Though we have two roads to use according to the geographical condition, the affected road was more used by the residents as it is connecting NH-65, where the marketplace, schools are located and availability of auto-rickshaw is convenient.”

However, Aniruddha Pawaskar, a senior official of the PMC Road Department, said, “The land acquisition is the main problem. Once the land acquisition problem is sorted, then only we can look into the issue and construct a proper road.”

Meanwhile, when Sakal Times contacted the company managers, they refused to talk and also did not reveal the names of their seniors.
