ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: The State Bank of India (SBI), the largest commercial bank in the country, will facilitate online and over the counter payment of stamp duty, registration fee and Electronic Secured Bank and Treasury Receipt (e-SBTR) through all its branches in Maharashtra.

The facility by SBI is a result of a pact signed recently in Pune with Inspector General of Registration (IGR) and Controller of Stamps, Maharashtra.

“Both customers and non-customers of SBI can now collect the e-Stamp papers from SBI branches. The main feature of the scheme is that the total transaction value should be Rs 100 and above. The customer can avail this facility online and over the counter,” officials from SBI stated.

According to the officials, initially, SBI will launch this facility with 10 branches at various locations, and other branches will also be enabled within a short span of time. “Details of the individual will be verified as per IGR data base, on the basis of which SBI will issue e-SBTR, which acts as a proof of payment of government for stamp paper,” they explained.

The pact was signed by IGR and Controller of Stamps, Maharashtra State, Pune, Anil Kawade and CM (NW-IV), BBI, MK Dutta, in the presence of CGM, SBI Mumbai Circle, Deepankar Bose and DGM’s from Pune Zones, Plaban Mohanta and Amitava Dutta.
