PUNE: The derailment of three coaches of Mumbai-Howrah train near Igatpuri in the early hours of Sunday affected several trains. As many as six trains (Up and Down) running between Pune, Lonavla and Karjat were cancelled and four delayed by some hours.

On Sunday at 2 am, the three coaches of train number 12809 Mumbai-Howrah Mail derailed near Igatpuri in Nashik between TGR 1 and Igatpuri before entering platform 2. While there were no casualties or grievous injuries, it took Central Railway personnel five hours to restore normalcy in traffic. The incident hampered the flow of railway traffic in Maharashtra. Three trains were diverted via the Pune-Daund-Manmad route which includes the 11057 CSMT-Amritsar Express, 15645 LTT-Guwahati Express and the 12167 LTT-Varanasi Express. Four trains were rerouted through the Vasai Road-Surat-Jalgaon which included the 11093 CSMT-Varanasi Mahanagari Express, 12141 LTT-Patliputra Express, 15066 Panvel-Gorakhpur Express and the 12811 LTT-Hatia Express.

According to Central Railway, six train services that were cancelled on Sunday are 99902 Pune-Talegaon local which departs from Pune at 6.50 am, 99903 Talegaon-Pune local which scheduled departure at 7.50 am, 99810 Pune-Lonavla local departing 8.05 am, Lonavla-Pune local, 11.30 am, 51318 Pune-Karjat Passenger departing at 11.15 am and 51317 Karjat-Pune Passenger departing at 3.10 pm. Four trains operating from Pune were delayed. These included Mumbai-Pune Intercity Express (12127) which was delayed by 50 minutes, Mumbai- Bengaluru Udyan Express (11301) which was delayed by 35 minutes, CSTM, Mumbai to Pune Station Indrayani Express (22105) delayed by 90 minutes and Bhusaval-Pune was delayed by five hours.
