Pune, 26 June 2025: A SpiceJet flight (SG-50) from Dubai landed in Pune on Thursday morning without carrying passenger luggage. Confused travelers waited by the baggage belt only to be informed later that their baggage would arrive on a different flight.

According to the airline, the aircraft could not accommodate the baggage due to increased fuel load, a decision made to ensure safety amid current global tensions and unpredictable weather conditions in Central Asia. The added fuel is reportedly a precautionary measure, allowing aircraft to reach alternate airports in emergencies.

SpiceJet explained that the cockpit alerted the pilot about the aircraft reaching its weight limit. The crew was then instructed not to load passenger baggage to avoid surpassing the safe limit. The luggage will be delivered in batches via other flights, a company spokesperson confirmed.

Meanwhile, another SpiceJet flight (SG-1080) from Goa to Pune faced over four hours of delay. Initially scheduled for 5:20 PM, the flight did not take off until 9:30 PM.

Sources revealed that the aircraft, also used for the Mumbai-Goa-Pune route, struck a bird during the Mumbai-Goa leg. This prompted an engine inspection and additional safety checks, leading to the delay. Frustrated passengers expressed their dissatisfaction over the prolonged wait.
