Pune: While the demand for Master of Business Administration (MBA) has picked up in recent years, the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has introduced 18 new subjects for specialisation in MBA in a bid to increase the employability.

The specialisation subjects are effective from this year.

“So far, there has been limited specialisation subjects in MBA, commonly, finance, HR, business management etc. None included subjects for a senior executive. The purpose of adding more specialisation subjects in the course is to an array of choices to the students, widening the employment opportunity for them,” said Head of Department of PUMBA and Dean of Faculty, Prafulla Pawar.

“The above subjects will help the students specialise in the management of a particular sector. For example, if a student chooses healthcare management, then he/she will be studying substantially about the subject and will have an overall knowledge of it. They will also be taking internships as per their specialisation subject which will help them gain practical knowledge on it,” added Pawar.

Pawar further added that the students are generally taught about business management but family business is where one is a sole runner of the business. Therefore, he has to be efficient in everything. Through specialising in FBM, he will learn about various management techniques to run a business.
