SPPU VC assures action

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: Sinhgad Technical Education Society’s (STES) terminated and transferred professors have found a single ray of hope as the Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has positively reverted to the letter submitted by these professors.

STES terminated and transferred professors had submitted a complaint letter to VC of SPPU, Nitin Karmalkar against STES stating that the management has not followed any kind of norms prescribed by SPPU during mass termination and transfer of professors from the Sinhgad institutes.

“Being appointed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and SPPU, we expect that management and concerned authorities should follow the prescribed process and must take SPPU in consideration,” stated the letter.

They have also highlighted that STES has intentionally transferred female employees to Lonavla campus to compel them to resign ultimately out of inconvenience caused due to excessive travelling. In this case, they require permission from the varsity but they have not sought one.

To the aforesaid complaint, VC has responded positively and assured to take action, informed the professors. Meanwhile, the existing professors in STES received a threat letter under the header of STES and signed by MN Navale.

The letter mentions all the incidents of protest, non-cooperation and issues highlighted by several professors and stated that the principal/director have been authorised to immediately issue a dismissal if they notice any such incidence during working hours in the college premises. They should exercise this authority and dissociate such faculty.
